Our Fitness Testing programme is designed to help every student measure their progress, build physical confidence, and set realistic goals for their martial arts journey.

This is not about competition or exclusion, it’s about growth, effort, and celebrating improvement over time.

1. Purpose of Fitness Testing

Fitness testing is part of our grading system because it helps you understand three key things:

Every student can succeed. These tests help coaches tailor training, support development, and recognise when someone is ready to move to the next level.

2. Pass Ranges and Tolerance

We use a flexible scoring system that recognises both performance and effort.

Each test has a target number or time based on age, gender, and belt.

Pass Ranges

Result % of Target Outcome Meaning
Pass 90–100%+ Full Pass Target met or exceeded
Conditional Pass 80–89% Acceptable Slightly below target, but effort and form were good
🔴 Retry / Development Below 80% Needs Work Not yet at target – retest after further training

If a student performs below 80% but clearly shows excellent effort, focus, and form, an instructor may upgrade the result to a Conditional Pass.

3. How It’s Measured

Each belt level is tested across seven key areas of fitness:
