Water Element Kamae
- Ichimonji No Kamae
Lead leg facing towards opponent, back foot points angled to the outside. We put our weight in the back leg and deeply bend the knees.
- Open palms, one hand out with the other covering the neck.
- Back hand could be a boshiken sitting in the crook of the elbow
- Doko No Kamae
Same foot position as Ichimonji.
- Rear hand in a fist is raised above head, elbow pointing behind us.
- Lead hand can be bladed or a fist.
- Modern Interpretations
More modern approaches tend to reduce the distance between the arms and the body, providing more cover.
